The US views the South Caucasus region solely as a springboard against Russia, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said at a briefing, Report informs.

“They [the United States] are not satisfied with a peace-loving policy in principle. Achieving peace and stability in the region, which is possible only with a comprehensive normalization of relations among countries in the South Caucasus region with the involvement of their immediate neighbors – Iran, Türkiye and Russia – is not included in the goals and objectives Washington. Moreover, they set this as their anti-goal,” she noted.

According to the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, the US task is to ensure that “no interaction, rapprochement or mutual understanding is achieved in the region.”
