The World Health Organization announced on Friday that it had so far received no information relating to cases of death from the Omicron variant of the coronavirus, the organization’s spokesperson, Christian Lindmeier, responded to a question formulated by the correspondent of the Anadolu Agency at a press conference held in the Swiss city of Geneva, Report informs.

Lindmeier explained that the organization is still conducting studies to determine whether the new variant is contagious and causes serious illness.

He stressed that time will determine the effectiveness of current vaccines against the new variant.
