
The US Miami-Dade County has declared February 26 as the Day of Remembrance of the Khojaly genocide, Report informs.
In this regard, Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levin Kava and Miami-Dade County Commissioners Board Chairman Anthony Rogriguez signed a declaration.
The declaration reads that on the night of February 25-26, 1992, as a result of the massacre committed by Armenian gangs in the Azerbaijani city of Khojaly, more than 600 civilians died, including children, women and the elderly. It was noted that well-known international human rights organizations, including Human Rights Watch, called this tragedy the largest massacre in the region.
On behalf of Miami-Dade County, the authors of the declaration proclaimed February 26 a day of remembrance for Khojaly.
The declaration was presented to the head of the Azerbaijani American Cultural Association, operating in Florida since 2006, Tohfa Eminova.
