The US believes that armed groups accused of attacking churches on Easter Sunday may still be at large and are actively planning new attacks in Sri Lanka, US Ambassador Elaine Teplitz said, Report informs citing Reuters.
“We believe that the terrorist threat still exists, and there may be active conspirators. Active members of the groups involved in the terrorist attacks on Easter Sunday can still be free,” Teplitz said.
According to her, the United States assumes that the active part of the group has not been neutralized yet and is currently actively planning new attacks.
Notably, on April 21, eight explosions thundered in Sri Lanka: the first six in Colombo, Negombo and Batticaloa, the seventh in Dehiwala in the west of the island, the eighth in the suburb of Colombo. Another bomb was found on the road leading to the Bandaranaike International Airport.
