“The future of the region depends on the solution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Women refugees and internally displaced persons should play an essential role in this process,” the UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan, Ghulam Isaczai, said.

He spoke at the conference, “Internally displaced persons call for justice; their needs and security issues,” organized by the Center for Analysis of International Relations.

According to him, the main issue for the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is the strengthening of stability and peace by establishing a dialogue between the Karabakh communities.

“As the world is facing the gender issue today, equality is growing more and more relevant. The region needs to achieve a solution to the conflict to implement a model of sustainable development,” Isaczai said.
