The actions of religious leaders are important for promoting climate change measures and achieving climate justice, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said in a video message to the participants of the Baku Global Summit of Religious Leaders, which began its work on November 5, Report informs.

He noted that extreme temperatures, raging fires, droughts, and large-scale floods spare no country, and the poor are the most vulnerable.

The UN secretary-general emphasized the importance of actions aimed at ensuring that countries develop new national plans (NDCs) in the climate area by next year, consistent with the goal of limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees. It is also important to ensure fairness so that all countries have the resources to adapt to a changing planet and transition to a sustainable and renewable future.
