The visit by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to Azerbaijan can be viewed as a new stage in relations between Kiev and Baku, and the beginning of a more fruitful cooperation.
Deputy Chairman of Verkhovna Rada in Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk made the statement speaking to Report’s European bureau.
“The visit will lay a foundation for more serious innovations. The new spectra of this cooperation was unveiled by the presidents of both countries, both in joint Baku statements and in bilateral meetings. In particular, goals were set for mutual investment, for the further expansion of the activities of SOCAR Ukraine, as well as for the comprehensive development of cooperation in the diplomatic, economic, cultural and other fields.
“And, most importantly, the President of Ukraine in Baku openly declared that he fully supported the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and condemned the fact of occupation. In general, we understand these problems, because the Ukrainian people also suffer from conflict. With this in mind, Volodymyr Zelensky”s visit to Baku was a remarkable event in the history of relations between the two countries, ” Stefanchuk said.
According to him, the documents signed during the visit “will open new doors in cooperation, and will further strengthen mutual trust between Ukraine and Azerbaijan globally.”
Speaking about the prospects for the development of economic cooperation, the Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada noted that there are Azerbaijani businessmen in Ukraine who also expand their activities in Ukraine for the benefit of Azerbaijan: “We see it not only in the economic but also in the socio-political areas. The reason is the good organization of Azerbaijanis in Ukraine in recent years. I can cite United Diaspora of Ukrainian Azerbaijanis and its chairman Hikmat Javadov as an example. We appreciate their activity greatly.”
