Azerbaijani and Ukrainian officials viewed the reconstruction works in the Ukrainian city of Irpin.

According to Report, Acting Head of Kyiv Regional Administration Mykola Kalashnik, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Ukraine Seymur Mardaliyev, employees of SOCAR’s Ukraine office, and Irpin city hall officials first laid a wreath at the monument in the park named after academician Zarifa Aliyeva and commemorated her memory.

Then the delegation visited the linguistic lyceum named after academician Zarifa Aliyeva and the city polyclinic that Azerbaijan has thoroughly renovated. It was noted that 112 million hryvnias ($2.6 million) were spent on renovating the war-damaged lyceum. The second phase of the polyclinic’s restoration includes the construction of an anti-radiation shelter, the installation of a modern fire protection system, and ventilation. The renovation is expected to be fully completed by the end of March.F

The ambassador stated that thanks to President Ilham Aliyev’s philanthropic policy, Azerbaijan’s humanitarian aid to Ukraine has exceeded $40 million over the past three years: “The Azerbaijani state is closely involved in the restoration of Irpin city in particular. During the past period, more than 200 Ukrainian children who lost parental care have undergone complete medical and psychological rehabilitation in Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan is ready to continue providing humanitarian aid to Ukraine.”

Acting head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration Mykola Kalashnik said that the friendly Azerbaijani people continue to help Ukraine. “Azerbaijan stands shoulder to shoulder with us in this difficult time. Now more than ever, we need humanitarian support. In this city, a number of social and healthcare facilities are being reconstructed and improved after the destruction. Currently, the restoration of four social and healthcare facilities is being prioritized by Azerbaijan. We thank Azerbaijan for its active participation in such humanitarian mission,” the regional head added.

The Secretary of the Council at the Irpin City Council, Anzhela Makeeva, stated that Azerbaijan has completely restored 2 facilities in Irpin: “One of them is a polyclinic, and the other is the Academician Zarifa Aliyeva Lyceum. These two facilities are very important for us. With the restoration of the lyceum, more than 2,000 students were able to continue their education. After this, the reconstruction or restoration of 4 more facilities is planned. These are cultural center, sports lyceum, and residential areas. Today we visited those areas and got acquainted with the projects. We are very grateful to the state and people of Azerbaijan for this support.”
