The UK has handed over to the Ukrainian side an additional number of multi-purpose Martlet missiles, which are used to destroy unmanned aerial vehicles, according to The Times newspaper, Report informs referring to TASS.

The British authorities have not officially announced the supply of Martlet missiles, but the first mentions of their use in Ukraine appeared back in 2022. In September, UK Defense Secretary Grant Shapps said London would provide assistance to Ukraine in key areas in the coming months, including air defense, long-range missiles and training of Ukrainian military personnel.

The laser-guided Martlet missiles are manufactured by French defense industrial group Thales at a facility in Belfast. The company itself positions the missile as ammunition with a wide range of applications. They can be carried by helicopters, boats and land platforms; the missile can also be launched using Starstreak man-portable anti-aircraft missile systems, also supplied to Ukraine.
