Ankara and Moscow are discussing the possibility of using the Turkish payment system Troy as an alternative to Mir, Report informs, citing Aydınlık newspaper.

According to the newspaper, the central banks of the two countries are in talks regarding payments for energy, the use of national currencies, the protection of the financial systems of the two countries from sanctions and, possibly, the creation of a SWAP line.

“If Russian banks outside the US sanctions accept the Turkish Troy payment system, or if they open an account with Turkish banks operating in Russia and receive a card integrated with Troy, then Russian tourists can make purchases with these cards in our country,” writes Aydınlık.

Since the system and transactions are under the direct control of Turkiye, “it will not be easy for the US to find a reason to intervene” in this situation.
