The Turkish Air Force prevented Greece from obstructing the flight of NATO aircraft, Report informs, citing the Ministry of National Defense of Turkiye.
Yesterday, Greece tried to prevent the flight of the E3-A AWACS aircraft of the Alliance as part of NATO’s NEXUS ACE Aegean mission.
While the Package Arm was flying in the international airspace of the Aegean Sea, the F-16s that took off from 5 different air bases belonging to Greece set radar locks and jammed the Turkish planes. 14 F-16 fighters of the Turkish Air Force, 1 HIK, 1 KC-135 air tanker, and 1 CASA search and rescue aircraft responded to the Greek side by removing the obstacle.
Despite the attempts of the Greek planes to prevent the NATO mission, the Turkish aircraft of the Package Arm continued their flights for the successful completion of the mission.
An Air Tasking Order (ATO) was drawn up for this mission 24 hours in advance, and NATO allies were informed.
