Türkiye intends to discuss the development of bilateral relations with the new US administration in the near future, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan told Anadolu Agency.
Fidan noted that in negotiations with the previous administration, Ankara achieved significant progress on important bilateral agenda issues.
“However, the lifting of sanctions imposed under the Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA) remains one of the key unresolved issues. Such sanctions against a NATO partner country contradict the spirit of alliance,” he said.
The minister also pointed out that talks with the new administration are expected to begin around March, once the government is fully formed.
