Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is playing with fire by confronting Russia because neither the US nor France is the region’s country, a former Turkish Consul General in Los Angeles, Gulru Gezer, said in an article titled “Is the window of opportunity for peace in the South Caucasus shrinking?”, Report informs.

She noted that Russia may be tired of the war in Ukraine, but it has not given up its interests in the Caucasus: “Russia does not want Armenia’s rapprochement with the West and the development of relations with the EU and NATO. Russia has repeatedly stated that it supports the peace treaty between the two countries. But Russia is not very keen on Pashinyan, who is getting closer to the West, staying in power.”
