Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on Friday had a private meeting with Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim, who is on an official visit to Azerbaijan.
Later on, an expanded meeting took place with the participation of the two countries’ delegations, APA reported.
President Ilham Aliyev congratulated Binali Yildirim on his appointment as Prime Minister of Turkey.
“I’m very glad that you have made your first official visit to Azerbaijan. This is a move indicating the high level of bilateral relations,” the president said.
He stressed that Turkey-Azerbaijan unity strengthens stability in the region.
President Aliyev said that the two countries enjoy successful cooperation in the economic, transportation and other fields.
“Energy and transport projects are being implemented successfully. I’m convinced that we’re going to open these highly important projects,” he added.
Binali Yildirim in his turn mentioned that the head of government making his first visit to Northern Cyprus and Azerbaijan when a new government is formed has become a tradition.
“We are one nation and two states,” the PM said thanking the Azerbaijani president for the warm hospitality.
