
United States President Donald Trump is considering selling around two-thirds of the office space held by the federal government, the Wall Street Journal reported on January 21, Report informs via Baha Breaking News.
Over 34 million square meters of federal real estate are owned and managed by the General Services Administration (GSA), although the agency has admitted that many of its buildings are not properly maintained due to a lack of funding.
Sources from Trump’s transition team said the offices will be sold to the private sector if the president authorizes the plan.
Meanwhile, GSA told the newspaper that it “continues to work to right-size the federal portfolio, and is committed to optimizing space in federal buildings.”
