A tree planting campaign was held in Khizi region within the initiative of the First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mehriban Aliyeva on planting 650,000 trees in connection with the 650th anniversary of the great poet Imadaddin Nasimi.
Report informs that the residents of the district took an active part in the campaign.
Residents planted a large number of pine and olive trees that are adaptable to the climatic conditions of the area, as well as are decorative. Weeds and wastes were also cleaned at the site where the campaign was held, newly planted trees were served and irrigation was implemented.
Notably, a tree-planting campaign has launched in Azerbaijan today. A map of the areas where trees are to be planted has been prepared. The map covers all regions of Azerbaijan, including Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Most of the trees are planted along the highways. It is preferred to plant nectar trees that attract bees. In total, 650,000 trees will be planted in the country.
The goal of the tree-planting campaign is to promote internationally the poetry of the world-famous poet Imadaddin Nasimi, to perpetuate his memory, to promote the literary and cultural heritage of Azerbaijan.
