In a recent article titled “The Renaissance of Central Asia: Towards Sustainable Development and Prosperity,” published in the newspaper “Kazakhstanskaya Pravda,” President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed his belief that the Central Asian region has the potential to become one of the world’s most important transportation and logistics hubs.
According to Report, President Tokayev highlighted that Central Asia is rapidly transforming into a key link in global transport communications. The region is actively involved in promising projects such as China’s Belt, Road initiative and the International North-South Transport Corridor, which engage all countries in the region to varying degrees.
Tokayev noted that Kazakhstan, in collaboration with its partners, is actively developing the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor), with the potential to increase cargo transportation volumes by five times in the medium term. The development of Kazakhstan’s maritime infrastructure, including the ports of Aktau and Kuryk, opens up new opportunities for handling growing volumes of goods from China and Central Asian countries to the South Caucasus, Türkiye, and further into Europe.
