Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev dismissed Emergency Minister Yuri Ilyin amid a large-scale natural fire in the country’s east.

Report informs, citing Kazakh media, that a large forest fire hit the Abay region, the area of which doubled, amounting to 60,000 hectares.

Tokayev instructed the government to use all available technical and human resources to combat the natural disaster to prevent the scale of the disaster from growing and ensure the safety of citizens and their property.

Earlier, the bodies of three dead forestry workers were found in a fire in the Abay region. Their identities have not been established. Victims of a major forest fire were discovered from a helicopter. However, it is impossible to approach them because of the strong flames. The search for 11 more employees is underway.
