– A man wanted for multiple convictions was apprehended by law enforcement authorities today in Baku, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Prosecutor General’s Office confirmed in a joint statement.
Rovshan Ogtay oghlu Allahverdiyev, 37, attempted to evade capture by using family members as shields and resisting arrest, according to reports. Authorities managed to neutralize him during the operation.
The incident follows a tragic event last night where three police officers lost their lives in a separate operation in Baku. The officers, identified as Police Captain Eldeniz Mammadov, Police Sergeants Mahir Agayev, and Mirali Heydarov, were members of the Mobile Police Regiment of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
A criminal investigation into these incidents is currently underway.
