
Verbal insult or other offensive action against a state-political official, political official, as well as a state or public servant will result in administrative liability in Georgia, Report informs via Interpress News.
According to the planned amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses, which were prepared by Georgian Dream and have already been initiated in the Parliament, such an action will result in a fine of GEL 1,500 ($528) to GEL 4,000 ($1,400) or administrative detention for a term of up to 45 days.
According to the same draft, the commission of an offense by a person subject to administrative punishment for the commission of the aforementioned administrative offense will result in a fine of GEL 2,500 ($880) to GEL 6,000 ($2,112 )or administrative detention for a term of up to 5 days.
Insulting a political official and a civil servant is also subject to deprivation of the right to bear arms for a period of up to 3 years.
The Georgian Dream amendments also envisage increasing administrative imprisonment to 60 days. In addition, sanctions are being tightened for petty hooliganism, resisting a police officer, and violating the rules of assembly and demonstration.
