Three people were killed in a terror attack at the Allenby Crossing in the Jordan Valley on September 8, Magen David Adom (MDA) said, Report informs referring to The Jerusalem Post.
Yohanan Shchori, 61, a resident of Ma’ale Efrayim, and Yuri Birnbaum, 65, a resident of Na’ama, were later named as two of the individuals killed in the terror attack at the Allenby Crossing on Sunday, Israeli media reported.
Earlier, MDA stated that its paramedics and members of an IDF medical team performed resuscitation efforts on three men who had been wounded by gunfire. However, these efforts failed, and responders subsequently pronounced them dead.
The terrorist was eliminated by the security forces in the area, the IDF affirmed.
The military noted the terrorist had approached the area in a truck from the Jordanian side of the border. After leaving the vehicle, he opened fire at the security forces.
The IDF further added that troops were at the scene and were operating to rule out the existence of explosive devices on the truck.
The Hashemite Kingdom’s Interior Ministry said the country had begun investigating the shooting, according to Reuters.
A Jordanian official told Reuters that the Allenby Bridge, known as the King Hussein Bridge in Jordan, had been closed.
