
In a joint statement, six parties in Iranian Kurdistan have called for a nationwide strike, urging people across Kurdistan to close markets, workplaces, and educational centers to prevent the execution of Pakhshan Azizi and Varisheh Moradi, Report informs via Iran International.
The statement was signed by the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran, the Free Life Party of Kurdistan (PJAK), the Kurdistan Freedom Party (PAK), the Kurdistan Komala Party of Iran, the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran, and the Kurdistan Organization of the Communist Party of Iran.
The statement highlighted the economic and political struggles faced by the people of Kurdistan and Iran, including inflation, unemployment, poverty, and lack of political freedoms. It criticized the ruling Islamic Republic of Iran for issuing death sentences to political activists instead of addressing the people’s demands.
Moradi was sentenced to death on November 10 by the verdict of Abolghasem Salavati, and Azizi was sentenced to death on July 2 by the verdict of Iman Afshari in the Revolutionary Court of Tehran.
