Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov made it clear that Russia won’t discuss Karabakh’s status, political scientist and military expert Alexander Perenjiyev told Report’s Russian bureau, commenting on the statement of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

“To date, there are certain agreements, there is the recognition of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, while the status of Nagorno Karabakh is not envisaged in any protocol or document. Respective agreements contain the issues of de-blocking economic ties, transport corridors, but not the status,” the expert said.

“Russia will not touch upon this issue as of yet, or probably it will never do it. If Azerbaijan and Armenia sign a peace treaty and an agreement on establishing borders, the topic of the status will certainly be removed from the agenda,” the Russian expert believes.
