Passenger rail service between Azerbaijan and Georgia may resume from May 1, 2025, Report informs referring to the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.

This issue was discussed at a meeting between Azerbaijan’s Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev and Georgia’s Vice Prime Minister Levan Davitashvili.

“This railway connection is very important for our tourism sector. At the meeting with our Azerbaijani colleague, we also discussed forecasts for cargo transportation this year. Our main goal is to be more competitive at regional and international levels with maximum coordination,” Davitashvili noted.

The parties also discussed the completion of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway expansion project this year and the creation of a joint venture for its management.
