More efforts are needed to reduce carbon dioxide and develop green energy, Hamda bint Hassan Al Sulaiti, Deputy Speaker of the Qatari Parliament, said during her speech at the 14th plenary session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly held in Baku on February 22, Report informs.

According to her, many countries in the region are struggling to achieve the 17 ambitious goals set by 2030, and Asia will not achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by that time: “Only 11% of the development goals will be achieved by 2030. There is water shortage, rising unemployment problems, industrial stagnation. We must cooperate in the provision of clean energy. Efforts to reduce carbon dioxide and develop green energy must be increased. A regional agreement must be signed to create a free market. In general, to achieve the goals by 2030, work must be strengthened and special mechanisms should be prepared.”
