Baku is hosting the first Congress of Independence Movements from French-colonized territories bringing together the leaders of more than 15 political parties and independence movements from Corsica, Melanesia, Polynesia, the Caribbean and the Antilles, which suffered from French colonialism, Report informs.

The event is organized by the People’s Union for the Liberation of Guadeloupe with the support of the Baku Initiative Group (BIG). The idea of holding the congress came from the political parties and movements struggling for the independence of the French overseas territories.

Three organizations from the islands of Bonaire and Sint Maarten, colonies of the Netherlands, are participating in the Congress as guests of honor.
