Iran’s new President, Masoud Pezeshkian, has outlined his administration’s foreign policy agenda, emphasizing the significance of Iran’s strategic partnerships with both Russia and China. Discussing Iran’s relationship with Russia, Pezeshkian referred to the country as a “valued strategic ally and neighbor,” and emphasized his administration’s commitment to “expanding and enhancing our cooperation.” He stated, “My administration will remain committed to expanding and enhancing our cooperation,” underscoring the importance of Tehran’s strategic ties with Moscow.
While advocating for peace for the people of Russia and Ukraine, Pezeshkian expressed Iran’s readiness to support initiatives aimed at resolving the conflict. “My government will stand prepared to actively support initiatives aimed at achieving this objective,” he said, indicating Iran’s involvement in peace efforts without explicitly distancing from Russia’s stance.
