The EU supports progress in normalizing relations between Baku and Yerevan, and will continue to support Azerbaijan in demining the territory, EU Ambassador to Azerbaijan Peter Michalko said at an event on the occasion of Europe Day in Baku, Report informs.

The ambassador emphasized that the EU is Azerbaijan’s main economic partner in the field of trade, foreign direct investment and in the oil industry, which is very important for economic diversification.

Speaking about the COP29 conference held in November this year, Peter Michalko noted that the European Union welcomes Azerbaijan’s commitment to developing its potential in the field of renewable energy sources, “which is an important part of the plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, as well as to export clean energy via subsea cable to Europe (Black Sea Submarine Cable Project – ed.) in cooperation with several EU member states.”
