The Israeli spyware Pegasus, purchased by Polish intelligence services, was used to monitor the phones of 578 politicians in the country, according to the Rzeczpospolita newspaper, Report informs via TASS.

According to the publication, the software was initially acquired at the initiative of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau (CAB), but later the Internal Security Agency (ISA), Military Counterintelligence Service (MCS), and police also began using the obtained data. The ISA and MCS paid the anti-corruption bureau for using data obtained through Pegasus software.

Military counterintelligence transferred 4 million zlotys per year (about $1 million) to the CAB’s account for this. The publication also believes that some of the obtained information about Polish politicians could have been transferred to Israel.
