Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has reportedly “convinced” Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to start changes to Armenia’s Constitution after the parliamentary elections in 2026. This claim comes from the newspaper “Hraparak,” citing a source within the ruling “Civil Contract” party.

The publication suggests that this might be why Pashinyan instructed the commission on constitutional reforms to present a new Constitution concept after the National Assembly elections in December 2026.

Additionally, the newspaper reports that Pashinyan recently hinted at upcoming surprises in foreign policy. Allegedly, Pashinyan plans to move closer to Russia. He intends to return to the fold of “Mother Russia,” stating that the EU did not accept Armenia, did not finance it adequately, did not take necessary steps, and did not provide sufficient security guarantees.
