
Over 90% of those polled in Turkiye oppose Ankara’s support for Sweden’s NATO membership, Report informs referring to Anadolu Agency following an online poll on whether Turkiye should support Sweden’s membership in NATO.
Some 92.5% of the agency’s subscribers on this social network answered this question negatively and 7.5% positively. The voting lasted a day, over 50,000 people took part in it, Interfax reports.
NATO member states signed the accession protocols for Finland and Sweden to the North Atlantic Council on July 5, 2022. These states will join NATO once all NATO member states have ratified the accession protocols.
Turkiye blocked the accession process, demanding that the Scandinavian countries designate Kurdish organizations as terrorists and extradite persons accused of terrorism, as well as lift bans on arms supplies to Ankara.
