More than 500 people, including 120 children, have been evacuated from flooded areas in Russia’s southern Rostov region, the ministry of regional policy and mass communications of the Rostov region said, Report informs referring to TASS.

“In all, more than 500 people, including 120 children, have been evacuated from the flood zone. Some of them are staying at their relatives’, others – at temporary accommodation centers. <…> Rescue services have received more than 17,000 calls today alone, or about 2,000 calls an hour,” the ministry quoted the deputy governor of the region, Sergey Bodryakov, as saying.

According to the local authorities, 25 settlements have been flooded. It was reported earlier that some 100,000 people in the Rostov Region have been left without power due to gale-force winds.
