Anti-Azerbaijan forces, including Armenians and Armenian sympathizers, are deliberately spreading disinformation against the country on social media, said Elmir Valizada, head of the digital media sector of the department for work with non-governmental organizations and communications of the Administration of the President of Azerbaijan, Report informs.

Valizada made these remarks at a conference themed “New Trends in Modern Media: Information Security and Professionalism Criteria.”

He highlighted that in today’s technologically advanced world, information plays a crucial role in solving problems.

“While acquiring and disseminating information has become effortless, a significant portion of it is disinformation. It is essential to shield society from such false information. Following the Patriotic War, Armenians and pro-Armenian groups, who disregard Azerbaijan, have been spreading misinformation on social media.”

With Baku set to host the major COP29 climate conference in November, Valizada warned that disinformation campaigns related to Azerbaijan’s hosting of the event are already underway across different channels. He called for a united effort to further develop the local media, safeguard national interests, and counter anti-Azerbaijan propaganda.
