
The Norwegian Armed Forces have received 213 complaints about damage caused during the NATO exercise Nordic Response held in the kingdom in 2024, according to the broadcasting corporation NRK, Report informs via TASS.
Norwegian authorities are reviewing the complaints and plan to complete compensation payments by summer.
According to the environmental staff officer of the operational headquarters Marianne Bø, the total cost of damage amounts to 15 million Norwegian kroner ($1.3 million).
NRK notes that most complaints concern environmental pollution, including uncleared waste, while about one-third relate to material damage caused to residents.
Additionally, in some cases, agricultural lands were damaged. According to the broadcasting corporation, after the Nordic Response exercises in 2016, 377 cases of damage were recorded with a total amount of 8.5 million Norwegian kroner ($758,000).
