Amid President Donald Trump’s statements about Greenland joining the United States, NATO representatives are planning to propose a significant expansion of the alliance’s military presence in the Arctic, Report informs via DPA.

The initiative is currently being discussed as part of informal negotiations within the organization. Proponents hope that by expanding NATO’s presence in the Arctic, including through the deployment of more American personnel, they can ease tensions caused by Trump’s Greenland discussion while also safeguarding US regional security interests.
