Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has commented on the withdrawal of Russian border guards from the Armenian-Iranian border, stating that there is no ‘political scandal’ in this event, Report informs.

Mirzoyan made the remark at a press conference with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov in Moscow, responding to a question from News.ru.

“Regarding Russian border guards, I want to remind that from the very first day of Armenia’s independence, at our request, Russian border guards were temporarily involved in ensuring security on the border between Armenia and Iran. After the expiration of time, we thanked the Russian side for such long service on our border. And now, as you informed, this part of the border can be protected by our own forces. Here too, I think there is nothing that could be a source for some big political scandal,” he noted.
