The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) undertook a voluntary commitment to reduce methane emissions to zero by 2035 at the World Climate Action Summit organized within the 28th session of the United Nations Climate Change Conference – COP 28, Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Economy, Chairman of SOCAR’s Supervisory Board, told journalists, Report informs.

According to him, SOCAR has signed relevant documents in this regard:

“As the main direction in this area, a number of technical and technological measures will be implemented to reduce methane emissions generated during oil and gas production. This reflects both the attention paid to climate issues in our country and one of the biggest goals aimed at this global conference.”
