Medvedev: Ukraine’s Path to NATO Should End with the Disappearance of Both the Country and the Alliance
Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia, has asserted that Russia must ensure the “irreversible path” of Ukraine toward NATO concludes with the disappearance of both Ukraine and the alliance.
In a post on his Telegram channel, Medvedev quoted a fragment from the NATO summit declaration: “We will continue to support [Ukraine] on its irreversible path to full Euro-Atlantic integration, including NATO membership.”
Medvedev responded, “The conclusion is clear. We must do everything to ensure that Ukraine’s ‘irreversible path’ to NATO ends either with the disappearance of Ukraine, the disappearance of NATO, or preferably both.”
