A statue of Marilyn Monroe was stolen Monday from a more than two-story public art piece in Hollywood, according to The Associated Press.
The statue depicting Monroe in her iconic pose from the 1955 film “The Seven Year Itch” went missing early Monday from the “Four Ladies of Hollywood” gazebo.
Detectives and forensics experts have been poring over the Hollywood landmark since the statue was reported stolen at 11:30 p.m. Sunday.
Los Angeles Councilman Mitch O’Farrell said someone was seen climbing the gazebo and sawing the statue off the art installation. Police say they have recovered fingerprints from the structure.
