Lithuania is interested in expanding mutually beneficial cooperation with Azerbaijan in the field of energy, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda said at a meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Baku, Report informs.

“The war in Ukraine prompted European countries to look for opportunities to diversify sources of energy supplies. We see Azerbaijan as a reliable partner in the energy sector, therefore we are interested in intensifying cooperation. In addition, Lithuania could offer Azerbaijan solutions in the field of renewable energy sources, especially solar energy,” said the president of Lithuania.

He also stressed the potential for cooperation between the countries in the field of transport.

Nauseda noted that Lithuania is interested in the railway project of the Europe-Caucasus-Asia transport corridor, which can become an alternative to the existing routes from Asia to Europe.
