The “3+3” regional cooperation format undoubtedly works in the interests of all participating countries – Azerbaijan, Armenia, Russia, Iran, Türkiye, and Georgia, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said during the parliamentary hour in the State Duma, according to Report.

“From the very beginning, everyone agreed that we have exactly the ‘3+3’ format and that we understand Georgia’s doubts and nuances of position, but a seat for Georgian representatives will always be in the meeting room,” the Russian Foreign Minister said.

Lavrov recalled that this approach was also noted at the last ministerial meeting held in Istanbul in October last year.

According to the Russian minister, this caused envy in the previous US administration, which tried to promote a “3+1” format instead of the “3+3” format, which was supposed to include the South Caucasus countries and representatives of former President Joe Biden’s administration.

He also emphasized that at the last meeting, a decision was made to transform this consultative platform into a more structured organization.
