Azerbaijan’s entry into the D8 Organization for Economic Cooperation reveals the country’s rising status in the global economic and diplomatic sphere as well as its willingness to make constructive cooperation with other states, Khalid Taimur Akram, a Pakistani international relations analyst, told Report.

According to Akram, today Azerbaijan has developed as a regional superpower with great potential in its resources particularly the oil resources to fuel rapid economic growth: “The country’s pro-infrastructure, technology, and trade diversification investments have created a suitable foundation that is ideally positioned with D8 goals targeting economic cooperation and sustainable member nation development.”

Due to its location at the crossroads of Europe and Asia coupled with a strong and developing non-oil economy led by the energy sector, Azerbaijan offers itself as an ideal buoy for economic cooperation in the region, the Pakistani international relations analyst said.
