Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed his Maltese counterpart Ian Borg about the provocations carried out by Armenia in the post-conflict period, including the mine threat, during their meeting within the framework of his business trip to Belgium, Report informs, citing the Azerbaijani MFA.

During the meeting, the minister exchanged views on the agenda of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries, including the regional and international situation.

Bayramov noted with satisfaction the development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Malta in various fields, including political, economic, energy, investment, and other areas. It was stated that it is important to use the existing potential to develop relations between the two countries further. The minister also informed the other party about the current situation in the region during the post-conflict period, the large-scale restoration and construction works carried out in the liberated territories, and the steps taken by Azerbaijan toward advancing the peace agenda in the region.

Ian Borg noted that, in addition to the bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Malta, there is an effective cooperation agenda within the framework of the UN and other multilateral platforms. The importance of the meetings in the development of the political dialogue between the two countries was emphasized. The minister spoke about the increasing importance of energy security amid the global processes, and in this regard, he emphasized Azerbaijan’s significant contribution to the energy security of Europe.

The meeting also discussed other issues of mutual interest.
