In an unprecedented move, a delegation from the Taliban, the ruling power in Afghanistan, has arrived in Japan for a week-long visit. The group, consisting of officials from the ministries of foreign affairs, education, economy, and health, landed in Tokyo on Sunday, as reported by Japanese media outlets.

According to Report, the primary focus of the trip is expected to revolve around discussions on humanitarian assistance and the potential for establishing diplomatic ties between the two nations. The invitation for the visit was extended by Tadamichi Yamamoto, the head of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation think tank and former chief of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan, during his visit to the country last summer.
