Israeli airstrikes have destroyed the historic Palmyra hotel in the eastern city of Baalbek during the airstrikes in the east of Lebanon. The hotel, built in 1874, was located adjacent to the ancient Roman temple complex and was one of Lebanon’s most significant historical landmarks.
Bayer al-Ashkar, head of the Hotel Owners’ Union in Lebanon, called the hotel’s destruction a “great loss” for the country.
“The Palmyra was one of Lebanon’s main historic sites, and its destruction is a tremendous loss for our nation,” he stated.
