The reintegration of the Armenian population into Azerbaijani society will ensure peace in the region, Irish historian and political scientist Patrick Walsh told Report.
“It is important that the Armenian inhabitants of Karabakh become full and functional citizens of Azerbaijan. There is no danger of the Armenians being treated unequally by the state, I would presume since that is in Azerbaijan’s interest,” he said.
“If the correct structures are provided, through dialogue and engagement now a new start may be possible in which Armenians realize that living in a large, tolerant and heterogeneous state will have immense advantages over the siege mentality they have been used to within a place that lacked any form of cultural diversity,” he added.
