The Azerbaijani office of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), with the financial support of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), restored and handed over to the use of local communities the kahrizes Bala Bino, Boyuk Bino and Goylan-2 in the Aghdam district within the framework of the project “Integrated development of rural areas in places of residence of internally displaced persons in Azerbaijan through the restoration of kahrizes”.

Report informs citing IOM that the project aims to ensure a safe and sustainable water supply for the region’s population through the rehabilitation of kahrizes, a traditional and sustainable water supply system.

The overall goal of the project is to contribute to the prevention of forced economic migration by increasing agricultural productivity and livelihoods by providing agricultural communities in Azerbaijan with water without the use of energy.
