Samir Nuriyev, Head of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, met with a delegation led by Governor of Tokyo Yuriko Koike.

During the meeting, the sides hailed the current level of relations between the two countries, pointing out great opportunities for further development of relations.

Chairman of the Organizing Committee Samir Nuriyev emphasized that preparations for COP29 had been successfully carried out under the leadership of President of Azerbaijan, noting that tangible efforts have been made to achieve consensus among all parties on the climate agenda as part of the country’s presidency.

Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike congratulated Azerbaijan on the successful organization of COP29 and wished the country successful presidency of COP29.

Samir Nuriyev provided detailed insights into the restoration and reconstruction works carried out in the liberated territories. He also informed the Japanese Governor about the concepts of “smart city” and “smart village” applied in the liberated territories, which have been declared green energy zones by the head of state. They also discussed the possibilities of cooperation with Japan in this regard.

During the conversation, the sides also exchanged views on the prospects for expanding cooperation between Baku and Tokyo, as well as issues of mutual concern.

Then, Head of the Presidential Administration Samir Nuriyev presented the book “Karabakh before and after occupation” to Yuriko Koike.
