Radical Palestinian movement Hamas rejects US President Donald Trump’s proposal to relocate Palestinians living in the Gaza Strip to Arab countries under the pretext of rebuilding the enclave, the organization’s spokesman Izzat al-Risheq said in a statement posted on Telegram, Report informs via TASS.
“We reject US President Donald Trump’s statement, in which he calls upon our people to leave their homeland under the pretext of rebuilding,” the text says, describing the proposal as an “outrageous attempt to eradicate the Palestinian cause.”
Reuters said, citing a senior US official, Trump thinks that it will take ten to fifteen years to rebuild the Gaza Strip. According to the official, Trump sees war-ravaged Gaza as a “demolition site” and believes that it would be “inhumane to force people to live on uninhabitable land.”
