Azerbaijan has not closed its eyes to West’s double standards, says a story prepared by the Haber Global TV channel.

According to Report, it was noted in the story, regarding the statement of the Azerbaijani delegation at the meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on January 24, that against the background of the atmosphere of racism, Azerbaijanophobia and Islamophobia reigning in the organization, the Azerbaijani delegation decided to suspend cooperation with PACE for an indefinite period.

The head of the Azerbaijani delegation to PACE, Samad Seyidov, said regarding the issue: “Unfortunately, some biased groups abuse the basic principles of PACE for their own interests. Political corruption, discrimination, ethnic and religious hatred, double standards, arrogance, chauvinism have become the prevailing practice in PACE. No one in the world, including those sitting in this hall, can speak to Azerbaijan in the language of threats and blackmail. Never before in the history of PACE has this organization behaved in such a shameful manner. In the face of the intolerable atmosphere of racism, Azerbaijanophobia and Islamophobia that has developed in PACE, the Azerbaijani delegation decides to cease its interaction and presence in PACE until further notice.”

It is noted that Azerbaijan has been a member of PACE since 2001. However, the structure that takes steps incompatible with the values of the Council of Europe is not afraid to show bias and partiality. For example, this organization turned a blind eye to the 30-year occupation of Azerbaijani lands by Armenia, and no sanctions were imposed against the government of this country.

It was emphasized that, although a number of decisions were adopted within the Assembly in support of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, no steps were taken to implement them.
